Above all, we need someone who can fit in with the family behind the business. Husband and wife, Pushyant and Anjani Patel – an experienced nurse – were inspired to set up Westgate in 1993 to deliver a higher standard of care than they’d seen their own family receive. Today, Westgate runs eight homes across London, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Whilst the founders are still actively involved, the main decision-makers are their daughters, both of whom have worked in the City.
If you can be sensitive to the family dynamic and the Patel’s emotional and financial investment, you’ll thrive here. It’s not a corporate environment: the culture is informal and we run our homes to be loving, safe and friendly.
For you it means greater responsibility – as well as working closely with Home Managers to keep standards of care consistency high, you’ll be involved in everything from marketing, PR, and recruitment to inspections, setting budgets and targets, and liaising with the CQC. We’ll trust you to initiate ideas and implement changes – and you’ll see the difference your decisions make in the homes, every day.
A chance to grow
There’s no limit to what you can achieve here. Westgate have plans to grow – both extending our existing homes and opening new accommodation. Depending on where your strength lie, there’s also scope to take on some of the responsibilities of the directors.

Ideally from a nursing background, your CV shows us you can manage people, processes and budgets to deliver outstanding care. We’re open-minded about what level you’re at now. If you’re on a trajectory and this is an ideal step up for you, we can pay £70-90k and help you to develop. For an accomplished Operations Manager – someone with the experience and credibility to step straight into the role, we could consider a higher salary.
With 470 beds across eight homes, Westgate delivers a wide range of services including residential care, nursing care, intermediate care, palliative care and dementia care.
